We all take pictures that we want to keep and losing them is both frustrating and upsetting, which is why we all want to transfer our photos over to our new iPhones. The problem is, using iTunes can be an ineffective way to transfer data between iPhones.

In this article, we're going to be introducing you to four different methods that you can use to transfer photos from iPhone to iPhone X as well as a short guide for each method. The two main programs that we will be focussing on are TunesGo and FoneTrans – two amazing programs that include features which go much further than simple photo transfers. So, with this in mind, let's go ahead and jump right into it.

Part 1. How to Transfer Photos from iPhone to iPhone X Using TunesGo

First, we are going to show you how to use TunesGo for transferring photos between iOS devices. This method is the most effective on our list and if you want to get the job done properly, definitely use this program.

Before you follow our short guide below, make sure that TunesGo is downloaded and installed on your computer.

Download TunesGo (Windows Version) Download TunesGo (Mac Version)

Step #1 – Launch TunesGo on your computer and connect your old iPhone and your new iPhone X using the appropriate lightning cables.

Step #2 – After the program has loaded and you're ready to begin, make sure that your old iPhone has been selected from the drop-down menu at the top left.

Step #3 – Next, to proceed simply click on the “Phone to Phone Transfer” feature from the main menu.

Step #4 – A window will then appear on TunesGo. Make sure that under “Target Device”, your iPhone X has been selected. Click “Next” to continue.

Step #5 – On the following display you will be shown some of the data types that TunesGo is capable of transferring. For this method, you are only required to select “Photos” although feel free to select any of the other data types. Click on “Transfer” to continue.

Note: if there are photos on your iPhone X which you want to have removed prior to the transfer, check the “Delete contents on target device then transfer” box at the bottom of the window.

Step #6 – The transfer process will then begin, and after a few minutes, you will be able to find all of your iPhone photos on your iPhone X.

When you want to transfer photos from iPhone to iPhone X, it's important that you use the right program. If you choose a program which isn't effective, you could risk data corruption which would result in losing your pictures.

Part 2. How to Transfer Photos from iPhone to iPhone X Using FoneTrans

The next program that we will be showing you how to transfer photos from iPhone to iPhone X with is FoneTrans. This program is very similar to TunesGo except for the fact that it is specifically meant for iOS data management and doesn't include as many features as TunesGo.

Before following the guide which we have provided you with below, make sure that you have downloaded and installed FoneTrans on your computer.

Download FoneTrans (Windows Version) Download FoneTrans (Mac Version)

Step #1 – Start off by launching FoneTrans and connecting both your old iPhone and your new iPhone X to the computer using USB cables.

Step #2 – After FoneTrans has detected your devices, using the menu on the left, select your old iPhone. From the drop-down menu below your old iPhone, click on the “Photos” option.

Step #3 – From the screen which is shown you will be able to view all of the photos which are currently stored on your old iPhone. Take a few minutes to go through each of these photos and select the ones which you want to transfer.

Step #4 – Once you have selected all of the photos which you want to transfer from iPhone to iPhone X, click on the “Export to” button at the top of the program, followed by selecting “iPhone X“.

Note: if you have already set up your iPhone X and you have named it something else, it may appear as the given name on the drop-down menu.

Step #5 – After a few minutes, you will have successfully found out how to transfer photos from iPhone to iPhone X by using FoneTrans.

It's that simple. Knowing how to transfer photos from iPhone to iPhone X doesn't have to be a long and frustrating experience. As you can see from the two methods that we've shown you so far, with TunesGo and FoneTrans this experience is fast and easy. That being said, not everyone will be able to get their hands on these programs, which is why we will also be showing you how to use iCloud and iTunes to get this job done.

Part 3. How to Transfer Photos from iPhone to iPhone X Using iCloud

Now, if you aren't able to get access to either TunesGo or FoneTrans, or you simply don't have access to a computer, then don't worry. You are still able to transfer photos from iPhone to iPhone X. However, we highly recommend using TunesGo or FoneTrans if possible as using either iCloud, or iTunes isn't as effective and is more time-consuming.

Step #1 – Start this method by making sure that both of your iPhones are connected to a Wi-Fi network and are both signed into the same iCloud account.

Note: although the devices must be signed into the same iCloud account, they don't have to be connected to the same Wi-Fi network.

Step #2 – On your old iPhone, unlock it if you need to and launch the “Settings” application.

Step #3 – Swipe down and tap on “iCloud”. From here, you can manage the different data types which are controlled by the iCloud service.

Step #4 – For this method, tap on “Photos” and on the menu which is shown, make sure that “iCloud Photo Library” is enabled. If it isn't, enable it.

Step #5 – A few options will then appear on your device. Select the “Download and Keep Originals” option.

Step #6 – After doing this, your photos will be uploaded to your iCloud account. Go onto your iPhone X and launch the “Settings” application.

Step #7 – From here, again tap on “iCloud”, followed by “Photos”, and make sure that the “iCloud Photo Library” option is enabled.

Step #8 – Again, tap on the “Download and Keep Originals” option which appears.

Step #9 – After a few minutes, all of your photos will be downloaded from iCloud on to your new iPhone X, and you will have successfully used iCloud to transfer photos from iPhone to iPhone X.

Using iCloud will help you to transfer photos from iPhone to iPhone X, although as you can see, this method isn't nearly as effective as either of the other two which we have shown you so far.

Part 4. How to Transfer Photos from iPhone to iPhone X Using iTunes

In the final method that we are going to show you, we will be showing you how to transfer photos from iPhone to iPhone X by using iTunes. This may be the first choice for many iOS users because iTunes is free and everyone can get access to it easily, but we still recommend that you use TunesGo or FoneTrans.

Step #1 – First launch iTunes and connect your old iPhone.

Step #2 – After iTunes has launched, click on the device icon at the top of the program and select the “Photos” option from the left menu.

Step #3 – If you don't already have the “Sync Photos” box checked, go ahead and check it now. On this page, also select the “All folders” option and lastly click on “Apply”.

Step #4 – After your iPhone has successfully synced your photos with iTunes, disconnect your old iPhone and connect your new iPhone X.

Step #5 – Again, click on the device icon at the top of the program and click on “Photos” from the menu on the left panel.

Step #6 – Check the “Sync Photos” box, select “All folders”, and lastly click on “Apply”.

As you can see, while this method gets the job done effectively it's still worth using either TunesGo or FoneTrans. On top of being fantastic programs to transfer photos from iPhone to iPhone X, they also come equipped with some of the best additional features out there.

The big downside to using iTunes to transfer your photos is that you aren't able to selectively transfer them, which will result in your iPhone being full of photos that you don't want to have on it.

Other Features About TunesGo

While our focus in this article was to show you how to transfer photos from iPhone to iPhone X with TunesGo, below are some of the other features that TunesGo users get access to.

  • Batch Install and Uninstall. This feature makes getting a new iPhone even easier. Rather than spending hours downloading all of your favorite apps onto your new iPhone X, you can batch install all of them at once. On top of that, you can also batch uninstall to clear storage space a lot faster.
  • Fix iOS. If you have been experiencing problems with your iOS device (such as it being stuck on the Apple logo screen), then you can use this feature to reinstall the firmware and fix any problem that you're having.

Other Features About FoneTrans

As we have done with TunesGo, below we have put together a short list of some of the other features which you get access to when you use FoneTrans.

  • Selectively Backup. Taking a backup can be frustrating and time-consuming if you want to have only specific files backed up. With FoneTrans, you can select the specific files that you want to have exported and to add to that; you can also selectively import files.
  • Edit Contact Information. Rather than taking a long time to edit your contact information on your iPhone, FoneTrans allows you to edit all of your contacts directly from the program. All in all, while iCloud and iTunes will get the job done, they aren't as effective.
